Lucky days for divers and snorkellers at Lily Beach: manta rays and whale sharks galore!

12 Sep 2016

We’ve been extremely lucky at Lily Beach over the last weeks – whale sharks and manta rays have been aplenty, so most of our divers and snorkellers had a chance to swim with these gentle giants at various dive sites in the South Ari Atoll.

It started a few weeks ago with our full day excursion to the south of the atoll where our guests spotted 2 whale sharks while snorkeling and 3 while diving. Meanwhile on our morning boat the divers spotted 8 mantas and had the chance to enjoy their company for a whole hour. The streak of luck continued as we kept seeing whale sharks during all subsequent full day excursions. Happy days!

If you haven’t been at Lily Beach yet, let us tell you that the resort is a great jumping-off point to explore some of the best dive and snorkel sites in the Maldives. With more than 50 sites in the area, the variety of choice is big, so in addition to big fish encounters, divers and snorkellers can also admire stunning reef formation and try their luck at spotting some of the macro life on reefs; adrenaline junkies will certainly enjoy taking underwater scooters for a spin!

We look forward to welcoming you in our manta and whale shark heaven here at Lily Beach, and can’t wait to show you everything else that the ocean around the resort has in store for you!
