Thresher Sighting

06 Dec 2012

One of the best things about diving in the Maldives is that you never know what you could see. Earlier this week a group of very lucky divers got to experience the Maldives at its best when they were fortunate enough to spot a Thresher Shark.

Elodie was leading the group of 5 dives on a morning dive off Latheef Reef, when at a depth of about 25 m a Thresher Shark swam by to check them out. Although Threshers are known to inhabit the Maldives they are very rarely spotted, and these unique sharks with their overlong tail fins are often a highlight for any diver.

Sadly none of the divers were able to get a picture of the Thresher, so we borrowed one, thanks Google.
