The IDC Diaries – Day 11
07 May 2010
Day 11 of the Instructor Development Course started with two topics in the classroom. The session looked the PADI ‘Rescue Diver’ and ‘Divemaster’ Courses from the instructors point of view.
This was followed up with some in depth looking at the training standards that apply during the teaching of these courses. This is additional preparation for the upcoming IE.
In the afternoon, the candidates presented their second prescriptive teaching presentation in the classroom. All the candidates look well prepared for the upcoming Instructor Exam, with high scores being achieved in this, the last presentation before the IE.
The final topic of the day was ‘Risk Management’ in which we discussed safe teaching techniques, as well as the importance of paper work and carrying professional insurance.
The candidates are now in the home straight, with just one day of the IDC left. Tomorrow will be spent in the water, which everyone is looking forward to.
