Awesome snorkeling around Kuredu!

18 Jan 2015
In the heart of Maldives, the Lhaviyani Atoll offers 35 different snorkel sides, with guests at Kuredu and Komandoo being able to experience the full range of sites on offer – from brilliant coral reefs to impressive outer reefs where large pelagic fish can be seen. The majority of these snorkel sites are within a 30 minute boat ride from Kuredu.

Komandoo’s house reef offers a fantastic relaxed snorkel, where the beautiful table corals, and colourful reef fish entertain the snorkelers above. The uninhabited island of Kudahdu offers an incredibly diverse range of hard corals, situated just below the surface, and attracts some of the largest schools of fish you’ll find in the atoll, with thousands of fusiliers, banner fish and snappers making the reef their home.

The outreefs, and channels of the atoll offer the chance to see something a little bigger. With sites such as Kuredu Caves often giving snorkelers close encounters with eagle rays, tuna, turtles and large schools of jacks and snappers.

January typically experiences slightly stronger winds than average, but thanks to the variety of sites visited by the Prodivers snorkel team, and the guides expert knowledge, sheltered sites where you can still snorkel in the beautiful flat waters of the Maldives are always available.
