Join a snorkelling boat and see the best of the Maldives

20 Jun 2018

The snorkel team on Kuredu love taking guests out on boat trips to explore the reefs of the Lhaviyani Atoll, the marine life perfectly showcases the very best of what the Maldives has to offer. Turtles galore, moray eels, sting rays, eagle rays and even manta rays and of course, an abundance of colourful tropical reef fish are all waiting to be spotted.

The snorkel boats are a fantastic way to see a little more of the atoll while enjoying being out on the ocean, cruising the impossibly blue waters with a chance of seeing dolphins too. Although there are many different sites visited on the snorkel boats, a firm favourite is a visit to Komandoo House Reef, just 30 minutes away, it belongs to the smaller sister island to Kuredu. Prodivers schedule regular trips for guests to enjoy the spectacular underwater world and colourful fish life. The snorkel guides are experts at spotting things underwater and will point out all the interesting things they see on the reef, and anything cruising by in the blue water too. It’s not only the snorkelling to look forward to – the trip includes drinking water, snacks, a big smile and a helping hand from the boat crew too!

This fun-filled half-day excursion is suitable for the whole family and children as young as four years old are welcome to join. For safety, all participants should wear fins and be comfortable in deep water.

Anyone tempted to join the snorkel boats but feels they are not confident enough with their snorkelling abilities can join a snorkel intro, this is scheduled every week to teach the basics and build confidence.

One very important piece of advice… don’t leave the Maldives without snorkelling, the islands are beautiful but underwater is incredible.
