Dive Update – Komandoo and Vakarufalhi

17 Sep 2012

It’s been a quiet week for the Lhaviyani atoll, but the weather has been better – with flat seas and clear skies. The Mantas have been hanging around with sightings being reported from across the atoll. Komandoo have had some great dives with the turtles on Caves where nurse sharks and mobulas made an appearance. This weekend Komandoo took part in the Clean up the World Project, which included a dive on their house reef to collect some the rubbish that can get caught amongst the coral. During which a large Porcupine Sting Ray cruised past to give the volunteer divers an extra treat!

Vakarufalhi has had a wetter week with a little more rain, but that doesn’t stop us diving. Trips out to Noo Giri introduced some divers to a number of curious turtles. The site is also a great place to look for stone fish, although we do recommend you don’t get too close! A visit to the local Wreck also proved productive allowing some great pictures to be taken of some of the smaller creatures that can be found living in and around the site of Kudimhaa wreck
