Return of The Tribe
25 Jul 2016
Dive Instructor Ludwig had a fantastic time guiding ‘The Tribe’ on the dive sites of the Lhaviyani Atoll.
‘The Tribe’ is actually a group of 9 repeater guests, from two families who met on Kuredu 12 years ago! Karen, Kevin, Jayden, Oliver and James are from South Africa and Clive, Carol, Tasha and Sean are from Dubai. ‘The Tribe’ is growing too – this year Sean’s girlfriend Jay also joined them and completed an Introduction Dive.
Highlights of the sites dived by ‘The Tribe’:
Kuredu Express – always a highlight but even more so due to a pregnant Grey Reef shark that cruised by very close to ‘The Tribe’ as they were watching the action from the terraces.
Caves – also known as Turtle Airport, it certainly lived up to its name as there were turtles taking off and landing in the caves throughout the dive.
Maagiri South – ‘Fish Soup’ was how ‘The Tribe’ described this dive! A site absolutely full of fish and with the right conditions they all congregate at the point where the current hits the reef and splits. There were two groups on the reef for this dive but, as is usually the case, ‘The Tribe’ was the only group of divers – the other group was barracudas!
Peak Crossing – ‘The Tribe’ took to flying around on scooters for an exhilarating channel crossing where they spotted large Silver Tip sharks and a squadron of Eagle Rays.
They also dived Latheef, Anemone Thila, Zafari and Fushivaru Corner. And, when not diving, they snorkeled on Mashura with the majestic Manta Rays.
We look forward to welcoming ‘The Tribe’ back to Kuredu in the not too distant future!
