Rare sightings at Prodivers Maldives: The results!

10 Sep 2014

It’s a safe bet that all four Prodivers Maldives dive centers, which are strategically located a stone’s throw away from the Lhaviyani, Noon and South Ari’s best dive sites, offer sightings of all those reef fish you’ve seen in movies (think Finding Nemo!).

But since we have great difficulties with settling for the common – a guitar shark on the house reef and a whale shark at Kuredu Caves are worth more than a bird in the hand! – we were curious which you would prefer to see if you absolutely had to choose.

Here are the results of our recent poll:

Guitar shark

Mobula mantas

Whale shark

Ornate eagle ray

Baby turtles hatching on the beach

Good news is that although the conditions around Kuredu, Komandoo, Lily Beach and Vakarufalhi need to be favourable (such as high levels of plankton for the mantas and whale sharks to feed on or full moon for the hatchlings), you have good odds of seeing any of the above in the Maldives.

With more than one hundred dive sites to choose from, the choice is bewildering! With a bit of luck, you might see something that’s out of the ordinary yourself.

Check out our staff-picked dive sites around Kuredu, Komandoo, Lily Beach and Vakarufalhi that often surprise with a rare sighting!

And as for the baby turtles, spend time around our dive centers to be the first one to find out the PD turtle phone has rang! We’re just like Batman – but cooler!
