Help protect the Mantas in the Maldives

The Maldives are a unique place in the world, as the host one of the largest population of reef manta rays (Manta alfredi). There is currently an export ban on all types of rays in the Maldives, but there is no national law which prohibits fishing of these animals.

Manta rays have an extremely long reproduction rate, as they are slow growing, late maturing and only give birth to one pup every 3-5 years. This makes Mantas extremely vulnerable to any sort of exploitation. Thus it is very important to continue conserving these beautiful animals and declare nationwide protection for manta rays and their relatives.
