PADI Women’s Dive Day 201821 Jul 2018
PADI’s Women’s Dive Day is an initiative to encourage more women into the sport of scuba diving, either on a recreational level or professionally. 2018 marks the fourth anniversary of this special day for women in diving. The idea is not only to reduce the gender gap in diving but in doing so getting more people actively diving, therefore creating more stewards of the ocean. With diving comes increased awareness of this fragile ecosystem, and with awareness comes the possibility to fight the oceans cause.
21st July was a day of shared adventure and love of the ocean across the Prodivers Dive Centers:
The team on Komandoo celebrated this special day by taking a ‘Ladies Only’ dive boat to Tinga Girl – a beautiful underwater island with lots to see. Steffi and Giulia guided the dive for the three guests plus Abi from the resort’s HR department. They had a great dive and surfaced to find delicious canapés and mocktails to be enjoyed on the journey back to the island. A very lady-like afternoon indeed!
The team from Prodivers Kuredu organized a ‘Special Ladies Afternoon Boat’ for all female divers. They dived a beautiful dive site called Kanihura Outreef and saw a lot of reef fish, 2 turtles, tunas, a grey reef shark and an eagle ray. The highlight of the dive was a Bowmouth guitarfish – WHAT a big surprise for the ladies! After the dive they celebrated with sparkling wine and snacks. What a fantastic dive to celebrate PADI Women’s Dive Day!
Lily Beach Resort & Spa spent the morning of this special day in the lagoon, introducing ladies to the underwater world. Guests and resort staff enjoyed their first ever underwater experience with Alex and Jutta very much. The youngest participant was just 9 years old! Late afternoon, our certified diving ladies went out on a sunset boat dive with fantastic visibility and plenty to see. After the dive, the boat crew served Champagne and light snacks to celebrate Women’s Dive Day.
Vakarufalhi marked the 2018 PADI Women’s Dive Day with a beautiful “ladies only” dive to KudaRah Thila and continued the celebration with a sunset aperitif on the bar deck! It was simply great to get the female divers involved in this project!
