New Rescue Divers on Kuredu
06 Feb 2010
Learning how to help others is a big step forward in any divers career and Paul, one of our guests from England, and Karola our snorkel guide, did it…
The PADI Rescue Course normally runs over 5 days and is very challenging, with the emphasis on equipping yourself with the necessary skills and knowledge to help both yourself and others while underwater, and on the surface. Throughout the course, awareness as to how to spot and diffuse potential problems before they arise is developed. As these skills are further developed, people’s understanding and perspective towards diving shifts, helping you to become a much more accomplished and responsible diver.
Paul decided to complete the theory at home before he came to Kuredu to finish his Rescue Course in the warm water of the Lhaviyani Atoll. Karola was already in training and as Paul needed a buddy for all the training, she joined the course. After a series of challenging training sessions, the course came to its climax with 2 specially constructed practical scenarios. These scenarios are designed to see how far the candidates have come through the course, and to put their newly acquired skills into practice. The scenarios are designed to be realistic and push the divers to their limits.
We would like to extend our congratulations to both Paul and Karola, who successfully completed the course, exam and scenarios!
