Orimas Surprise
09 Oct 2012
Orimas often provides us with great dives. The shark cleaning station provides guests with the chance to see large numbers of Gray Reefs Sharks cruising in the currents, often joined by Eagle Rays, Sting Rays and Barracuda. Leopard Sharks and Guitar Sharks are also often seen on the site, however this week we had a rather a special sighting. A large Sailfish joined the sharks as they got cleaned and provided our divers with a rare glimpse of one of the oceans fastest fish. Sailfish which can swim at speeds of 110km/hr are commonly seen jumping at the surface around the atolls, but are very rarely seen close to reefs or on dives so this was an extra special treat for our Orimas divers who still got to enjoy all the normal shark action as well.
