Noon Atoll – a perfect day of diving

04 Aug 2017

If you love diving and love the ocean, what could be better than a whole day on a boat cutting across the endless blue waters of the Maldives with three spectacular dives sprinkled into the mix?

Noon Atoll is located the other side of a wide channel, north of Lhaviyani Atoll and the day starts with an early morning departure. The reward for an early start is a beautiful sunrise paired with a hearty breakfast on board the boat. On the way to the first dive site guests can look out for a pod of dolphins – they sometimes put on amazing acrobatic displays beside the boat; on rare occasions pilot whales show up too.

The trip is suitable for every kind of diver, the variety on offer will appeal to all. The itinerary of the day is usually as follows:

Dive 1

Orimas_Thila

A big fish dive at a shark cleaning station. Grey Reef sharks are the most usual sighting but there is also the possibility of seeing leopard and guitar sharks.

Dive 2

Christmas_Rock

A macro and critter dive with colourful soft corals and the chance to find beautiful nudibranchs. The first 30 minutes is spent at a minimum of 13m, with the dive finishing on the Giri. As well as the small stuff, guests can also spot turtles, eels and barracudas.

Dive 3

Raafushi_Outreef

A drift dive along the wall with the possibility of finding a leaf fish. During manta season divers may see one or two of these majestic creatures cruising by out in the blue.

The journey back to Kuredu is relaxing, with coffee, cake and chatter about the day’s sightings. Guests will return to the Kuredu jetty in time for sunset, ready to enjoy a sundowner while reflecting on an incredible day.

*** Please note: the Noon Atoll Full Day diving excursion is subject to weather and diving conditions on the day. The itinerary may change or the trip could be cancelled at short notice.
