Time flies when you’re having fun and if the last week is anything to go by, time must be whizzing past for Alex. It’s time for another installment of our ever popular instructors diaries. Although Alex is still out on the boats it has been in a teaching role as she has been helping her students through their Advanced Open Water course.

This included two spectacular dives, even for our standards! First a short hop round the island to Caves where Alex was lucky enough to discover a smorgasbord of stingray action taking place in a small cave, who upon their discovery decided to make a quick exit, right over Alex’s camera!

Later that same week Alex took her students to Peak, to experience a rather special drift dive. On the boat Alex was joined by a number of pleasure divers out for a good afternoon of underwater fun, and our repeater guests  Tobias and Josef, and our office girl Jon with scooters looking for a kandu challenge. Whilst the divers went down looking though the waters for the potential big fish that can often be seen at this popular site, Alex stayed a little longer on the surface to brief her students. She was rewarded for her patience by a grey reef shark 3 minutes into the dive and a squadron of 14 eagle rays shortly after. A truly awesome experience!

The dive filled with jacks, napoleons and tunas that followed meant they all had big smiles on their faces when they surfaced. Although perhaps spirits were slightly dampened when they found out that first the fun divers, guided by Simon, had a manta  on their safety stop cruising by (although no eagle rays) and those on scooters had a plethora of sharks, including 4 guitar sharks in the channel. You can’t have it all, can you?

Aside from work Alex has had a fun week taking advantage of the other opportunities available on Kuredu, including her continuing practice (and dominance) in the ping pong arena, and selflessly giving up her time to be a volunteer at the spa for the therapists to practice their lavish hair and massage treatments.
