About
Located roughly in the middle of the Lhaviyani Atoll, 'Triple A' is known for the crown of thorns starfish, one of the largest sea stars in the world, and a predator that preys on coral reef polyps. The crown of thorns is very rare in the Maldives, the AAA Giri is the only dive site where we've found it so far, it does not seem to be disturbing the coral communities. Several species of cardinal fish and damsel fish are known to shelter within the venomous spines of the crown of thorns starfish. The south side of AAA Giri further impresses with big shoals of snappers, warrior coral and a mini maze made of boulders that provide shelter to a number of other coral and fish species.
