It’s IDC Time at Kuredu Again!

30 Apr 2017

Friday, 21st April, heralded the start of Kuredu Prodivers’ biannual PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC). Course Director, Miha Frlec, is back on the island and busy working with the four candidates eager to become PADI dive instructors. Let’s set the scene for the course that’s about to change their lives forever…

THE COURSE – If you have a passion for diving and would like to share it with others, the PADI IDC is the perfect course for you. Lasting for 13 days, it builds knowledge and teaching skills needed to be able to conduct PADI courses, including the popular Open Water Diver Course, and all the way up to Divemaster courses.

THE LOCATION – You couldn’t wish for better conditions in which to take the IDC – Kuredu Island Resort & Spa has not only an ideal shallow lagoon and conveniently sheltered house reef for the training dives, but amazing villas, restaurants and bars too. You can even hop over to the neighbouring Hurawalhi to dine 5.8 meters below the sea!

THE COURSE DIRECTOR – Miha worked as an instructor for 10 years before deciding to become a PADI Course Director and since then he’s qualified over 1000 instructors from all around the world. That’s 1000 people now living their dream! Miha has been conducting IDC courses on Kuredu every April and September since 2010. We managed to steal a few minutes with Miha to ask him a couple of questions…

Miha, what do you love about teaching?

Seeing candidates develop and make a big change in their lives. Teaching enables me to meet a wide variety of people from different cultures, and to learn new things myself.

What made you change your lifestyle?

I always wanted to expand my diving experience and by teaching the IDC I have the opportunity to learn something new every day.

THE CANDIDATES

Carola works for Prodivers here on Kuredu as a Snorkel Guide and has been diving since February 2016. She is continuing her education with the IDC so she can do what she loves every day and work as a dive instructor. Besides diving she loves ice hockey and enjoys painting.

Ilyas works as a Divemaster in Reethi Beach, Baa Atoll and has been diving since 2005. Ilyas decided to do the IDC to enable him to climb the professional diving ladder and share the magic of the ocean with others. In his spare time he also enjoys playing football and freediving.

Matheen works as a Divemaster in Milaridhoo, Baa Atoll and has been diving since 2009. He chose to do the IDC in order to share his passion of diving with others. Matheen is a big animal lover and has an interest in agriculture.

Nooh works as a Divemaster in Veligandu, Rasdhoo Atoll and started diving in 2003. He decided to do his IDC because he wanted to teach as well as guide. Besides diving he also loves music and playing football.
