See you soon, Rosa and Josep!

30 May 2015

When Prodivers’ team members decide to leave, we all get a bit touchy-feely. With Rosa and Josep’s imminent departure from Komandoo, the feeling is even more so, as the lovely Spanish couple have been with us for more than 15 years.

‘We landed the job with Prodivers Maldives in 1999, but only stayed for 6 months. After a short break away from Kuredu, Staffan took us back into the team where we settled into Maldives life. After 7 years on Kuredu, we were offered the base leader position on Komandoo, where we’ve spent the last 9 years. Staffan has become one of our best friends over these years and we often still joke about these early years.’

What are Rosa and Josep’s favourite dive sites around Komandoo?

You know that every dive sites can be totally different, depending on the conditions, but what we can agree on is that we love diving the kandus, the channels. They always throw in some pleasant surprises, such as sharks, eagle rays… Places like Felivaru Kandu, Fushivaru Kandu and other channels are, in our opinion, the best the Maldives has to offer. And now, with underwater scooters available, visiting the big KFFK or going from Kanihura to Zafari, where sharks are in dozens, is possible – and so amazing! Between the two of us, we’ve done 10,000 logged dives in the Atoll, and we can’t say we ever got fed up with it! I mean, just have a look at some of our pictures – how can you ever have enough of this?!

Josep remembers his first-ever manta in Kuda Kandu, his first patterned eagle ray at Zafari, the first hammerhead at Kuredu Express, the giant grouper, which was as big as a Fiat 500, jumping in to see pilot whales… Rosa’s highlights include a sailfish hunting at Anemone Thila, guitar sharks at Orimas Thila, her 7 Lhaviyani whale sharks, and the top two – a massive tiger shark at Express and a shark migration at the same dive site with hundreds of sharks passing by right in front of the divers’ eyes!

Everyone who has had the pleasure to meet Rosa and Josep will agree that throughout all these years, they have become an indispensable part of Prodivers Maldives. So much so, we are pleased to announce that this departure is just a ‘see you soon’ as Rosa and Josep will return to the Prodivers family in 2016, with the opening of our 5th dive center in the Maldives on the neighboring island of Hurawalhi.

Until we meet again, on behalf of all the guests that have had the pleasure of your company, your team mates on both Komandoo and Kuredu and the Prodivers Management Team, we would like to thank Rosa and Josep for all their efforts and commitment these past 15 years.
