Fantastic February with Komandoo
07 Mar 2019How was your February? At Komandoo Maldives it was fantastic – the team had some amazing sightings during their scuba diving and snorkelling excursions.
The ever-popular Manta Search snorkelling boats have been out with great success and during one of these, Sam and Mau, along with their guests, snorkelled not only with mantas but also with a pod of Risso’s dolphins. Being in the water with these big dolphins swimming slowly and calmly around was an incredible experience. Sam was lucky again later in the month when she and Ibbe had the pleasure of seeing mantas and bottlenose dolphins at the same time during a snorkel trip. Mantas have not only shown themselves to guests on the Manta Search boats – they have also been frequenting the Komandoo House Reef where they have been spotted feeding.
Things have been equally as exciting for the divers too – during a scooter dive at Kuda Kandu, Steffi witnessed the hunting drama of a sailfish close to the surface. Scooter dives are a great way to venture into Lhaviyani Atoll’s many channels in the hope of seeing the ‘big stuff’ but sharks and rays are the usual suspects so to see a sailfish was very special. Marek has been super lucky too and one day in particular he was full of luck… His day started with a scooter dive at Kuda Kandu where a friendly and curious whale shark baby came very close to the divers and seemed to enjoy the bubble bath they provided! Later the same day Marek was treated to a swimming display by the elusive torpedo ray – what a great job being a PADI Dive Instructor is!
Just another month in the office for the Prodivers Komandoo Team and we are left wondering what the next months will bring…
