Calling all macro lovers!

11 Jun 2015

The Maldives is very well known for its bigger fish encounters, encounters with sharks, manta rays and turtles, but the underwater world is also a paradise for macro lovers.

The past few months have seen guests and the team from Kuredu rushing for their cameras to capture images of the 7 Frog Fish that have suddenly realised that the Lhaviyani Atoll is a froggies dream pad for living!

Amenone Thila, located in the middle of the Atoll offers a stunning reef and an abundance of small fish that love the safe sanctuary of the reef. We’ve always had the feeling that there must be Frog Fish around the reef and we can now confirm that there are at least 3 blue tone giants living there.

Aliha Giri, another beautiful reef accessible from Kuredu and Komandoo is home to two very cute yellow warty Frog Fish.

Felivaru Outreef has its own white coloured Giant Frog Fish perched in one of the overhangs. Keeping on the outer reefs, a tiny juvenile green Giant Frog Fish has been found at Latheef. This little chap is really difficult to find and is keeping our instructors on their toes!
