“Clean Up The World 2010” day on Kuredu

20 Sep 2010

This year, ProDivers and Kuredu Island Resort, committed to keeping the island clean both under and above water, have participated in the “International Clean Up Day 2010” for the 16th time!

We succeeded in bringing together almost 80 ecologically aware participants, guests as well as staff, who volunteered for this worthwhile project and gathered in the rainy afternoon to help clean up Kuredu.

Divers focused on cleaning the house reef and the area around the jetty, snorkelers contributed by cleaning the lagoon and an enthusiastic land team did a great job cleaning the beach. The event was also in the forefront of our afternoon snorkeling boat trip, as the guests were given additional snorkeling gear – protective gloves and garbage bags.

Everyone seemed to be feeling a sense of achievement later in the afternoon for taking part in this year’s Clean up the World 2010 and making a difference. After the clean-up, all the helpful participants were invited to a reception in the Babuna bar, where they were given certificates of recognition in appreciation for their contribution to the aquatic environment and T-shirts, designed especially for this year’s event. The above picture was taken in order to make the memory of the successful event last.

Despite occasional rain showers, all participants were glad to have taken an active role in preserving the aquatic realm of our beautiful island. ProDivers and Kuredu Island Resort would therefore like to extend their gratitude to everyone who participated in the Clean up the World 2010 on Kuredu and were part of the 40 million people who participated in the event worldwide.
