Clean up the World 2011

16 Sep 2011

This year, like every year Prodivers Kuredu will work in conjunction with Kuredu Island Resort to take part and make a difference in the “International Clean up the World Day” which takes place during the third weekend in September.

For more than 15 years we have encouraged all the guests on the Island to take part in this special experience, the largest worldwide volunteer event “Clean up the world”.

The idea originated with an Australian Yachtsman, Ian Kirnan, who witnessed the global impacts of pollution and rubbish in our oceans whilst sailing around the world and brought “Clean up the World” to life in 1987. The concept is simple and effective and has motivated nearly 40 million people in 124 countries to take part. The oceans of the world, including our home the Indian Ocean, contain 97% of all living matter and 80% of the oxygen on earth and are an important part of the Clean Up.

On this special day we go out armed with gloves and bags to be a part of this global phenomenon and help to make our world a cleaner and healthier place to live.  Everybody staying on Kuredu for the event is welcome to take the opportunity to become a “Clean up” Member, at the end of the day all the volunteers will meet for a group-picture followed by a cocktail party. As an extra “Thank you” all volunteers will receive one of our “Clean up the world” t-shirts which have been exclusively designed for the 2011 event.

To sign up or if you have any questions, just come along to the dive centre and talk to us.

We are looking forward to your participation – your Prodivers Team!
