Clean Up the World 2010 at Komandoo

20 Sep 2010

The annual ‘Clean Up The World’ day took place once again on Komandoo in 2010. Like every year around this time, Prodivers and Komandoo Island resort organize this one-day event to coincide with the worldwide, non-profit, ‘Clean up The World’ program. The main objective of this initiative is to encourage local communities to clean up their local environment to help improve the quality of life for everyone.

More than a dozen snorkelers and other volunteering guests spent the morning picking up rubbish on and around the small neighbouring island of Kudadoo. In the afternoon, the same number of divers jumped in on the southern side of Komandoo house reef to collect all manner of waste and debris. Plastic bottles, old nylon nets, ropes, plastic bags, shoes, and even a plastic chair were among the items recovered.

Komandoo Island Resort invited all the assistants for a special ‘Clean Up The World’ cocktail at the end of the day to say a big thank you for all their time and effort.
