New Year, new turtles for Hurawalhi

13 Jan 2019

It’s happened – the eggs laid at Hurawalhi by a green sea turtle back in October have hatched! This was a very special moment as it was the first turtle to nest on the island since the resort’s opening. The team at Hurawalhi Maldives , Prodivers and the Sea Turtle Biologist from Olive Ridley Project, based at neighbouring Kuredu, all attended the hatching occasion to welcome the baby turtles to the world and help them find their way to the ocean. Their challenging journey has only just begun but hopefully, in years to come, some will return to the beaches of Hurawalhi to lay their eggs.
