In November a new resort, Herathera Island Resort, located in the Addhu Atoll, will open their doors. The resort, a public company here in the Maldives, will have arrivals over Hulule airport but also direct flights to Gan from both Germany and Italy. More information regarding the resort can be found under www.herathera.com
We got asked by the owners to take care of the operation of the dive center several months ago and seeing that we had both the organization and capable staff, we accepted. On our side we asked Bernd, who has been with ProDivers since 1999 and has worked on all levels, including as Dive Center Manager on Kuredu, if he would be interested to take on that challenge. Obviously he accepted and is on Herathera since a month ago. Seeing his performance with ProDivers over the years, we are extremely happy to have him lead this project and are very confident that he will keep our flag flying high. He was the obvious choice and definitely the man for the job.
To his immediate help, Oli and Birgit from Komandoo ProDivers will assist him to keep our philosophy and high service level. The dive center will be operated under the name of Herathera Dive Center, not ProDivers, but we will do our utmost to show our “way” of running a dive center worth while for all divers that will come and visit us this coming year.
We are looking forward to this cooperation with Herathera and are more than confident that Bernd and his team will succeed!

At the end of February we were very lucky to watch a green turtle to lay eggs at our beach. The little babies took their time and finally after 62 days they were ready to hatch. 65 turtles simultaneously cracked their shell and dug themselves out of their sand nest – hard work for the sweet little ones. We gave them a little starting help to increase their chances of survival. In the first 24 hours they can cover a distance of about 30 km. For sometime now they will drift on the surface of the open ocean and feed on what ever drifts past them. Only once they have reached a certain size they will come back to the reefs. We have whispered into their ears that they should come back to Vakarufalhi. Unfortunately we could not take flash photography as the turtles get disorientated by the light, that’s why we can just show you a photo of the nest area.
