SEA TURTLE DIVER
Life as a turtle is tough. From the moment they hatch they are faced with one of nature's toughest survival programs. The chances of a baby turtle making it to adulthood are slim - running the gauntlet of the first few years of their life, cast adrift riding the ocean currents. Even more incredible is that the females ultimately navigate their way back to the island were they were born in order to lay their eggs.
Green Sea Turtles and Hawksbill turtles are both endangered species. Proof that life for these graceful and charismatic animals is about survival.
A Unique Green Turtle Community
Kuredu is home to a unique community of green turtles. The abundant supply of sea grass and a naturally formed location, which offers protection and relative safety, has allowed a normally solitary animal the chance to develop one of the worlds only turtle communities.
The Sea Turtle Specialty Course, which is available for both divers and snorkellers alike, offers you the chance to learn more about how turtles have adapted and evolved through their fight for survival. Learn how to identify turtles and whether they are male and female and gain insights into how they reproduce.
Find out more about how humans are making this extraordinary struggle for survival even more difficult and what can be done to help protect these disappearing species.
Included in the course is a trip to this unique turtle community where you have the chance to observe and put into practice things you have learnt during the course.
