Humpback Whale Ari Atoll Maldives

Little did Stefano know that when he headed out for his dive boat with his guests on Wednesday that they would be in store for a truly magical encounter.

Traveling between Noo Giri and Ali Thila, the boat suddenly came to a stop as they spotted something big on the surface.

As the guests jumped in the water to swim with this giant, closer investigation showed that the big lump in the atoll (more…)

Manta Point Ari Atoll Maldives

As we continue in our series on some of Vakarufalhi’s dive sites in the South Ari Atoll, we would like to introduce you to Hukuru Elhi Faru.

Being a bit of a mouthful to pronounce, Hukuru Elhi Faru was very quickly nicknamed ‘Manta Point’. And for good reason.

Located on the western side of the South Ari Atoll, Manta Point has been a firm favorite for divers and snorkelers for many years. Manta Point picked up (more…)

Sail Fish Broken Rock Ari Atoll

Broken Rock never fails to disappoint.  Well known throughout the diving world, the dive site close to Vakarufalhi picked up its name from the canyon that splits the dive site into 2 parts.

But it wasn’t the canyon on Broken Rock that grabbed the divers attention this week as Antonio and his guests from Vakarufalhi came literally face to face with a Sail Fish.

Sail Fish are very often seen from the boats as they jump (more…)

Whaleshark Ari Atoll Maldives

Its incredible to think that something so damn big can be so damn graceful, elegant and mesmerising.

Proud of the incredible Manta action that we have been having the past few weeks here in the Lhaviyani Atoll, our colleagues and guests on Vakarufalhi were feeling a bit left out about all the attention our majestic Mantas were grabbing.  This week, we took the camera down to the South Ari Atoll.  (more…)

Dolphins Kuda Rah Thila Maldives

It is not unusual to see big schools of fish at Kuda Rah Thila, which is a protected Marine Park, a mere 15 minutes way from Vakarufalhi.

While watching a school of more than 100 jack fish hunting and causing havoc amongst the fusiliers yesterday, we were already blown away by the National Geographic action taking place right in front of us.

100 jacks darting through the water, fusiliers panicking (more…)

Vakarufalhi Maldives

Vakarufalhi Maldives

Friday Night is Maldivian Night on Vakarufalhi, where everybody on the island has to wear a sarong.  Sarongs are the local dress in the Maldives, usually worn by men.  During the afternoon, staff on the island teach the guests the different ways how to tie the sarong, and in the evening everyone hopes that it doesn’t slip off.

Dinner itself also has a local touch, and below are just some of the local dishes on offer: (more…)
