Even though we take safety extremely seriously on all of our islands, sometimes diving related accidents do happen.

Prodivers is pleased to announce that from the start of February, divers will now be able to take out a short term policy to help insure them against any unexpected issues that might arise as a result of a diving accident.

The short term policy is offered by International Diving Assurance, a subsidiary of DAN Europe.

Divers and students at either Kuredu, Komandoo or Vakarufalhi will be able to insure themselves for a single day’s diving, 7 days, or 14 days directly upon registration.

You’ll find us at shows across Europe, so we’re kindly inviting you to pop by for a chat about diving around Kuredu, Komandoo and Vakarufalhi, news from your favourite PD dive center or inquiries about great discounts that groups of divers are entitled to.

The traditional Christmas Treasure Hunt took place on Komandoo house reef yesterday.  Santa came to Komandoo early in the morning and left hidden some presents on the coral reef. Fifteen divers and eight snorkelers were lucky enough to  find them. Thank you Santa for all the presents and we all promise to be good guys next year so that we will get some more!!

The Prodivers team on Komandoo Island Resort wants to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Marcel and Reni Kaspar are the latest dive instructors to join the Komandoo team.

They are replacing Steve and Silvia who decided to leave last July after being two years with Prodivers on the little Komandoo. Marcel and Reni arrived from Switzerland the first week of October and immediately “submerged” in to the daily routines and, of course, the Indian Ocean. They both had worked for Prodivers on Kuredu in 2008 which is a great advantage while getting used to the routines, dive sites and the Prodivers “philosophy”.  Recently married, we wish them a happy long “honey moon” on Komandoo and plenty of good dives and friends during their stay at Lhaviyani Atoll.

Welcome back to Prodivers, Reni and Marcel!!

As usual, at this time of the year, the international Clean Up the World event has taken place on Komandoo Island Resort.

During this year’s edition, six guests and about twenty staff were involved in the activities which involved the clean up of the lagoon and part of the house reef.  Several bags full of litter were taken off of the reef.

The kitchen department wanted to delight the participants with a delicious cake decorated with the “Clean Up The World” logo!! Yummi!!

The diverse topography of our dive sites here in the Maldives is reflected in their different names – many of the sites here are described either as a Giri, a Thila or a Kandu and we have decided to celebrate these in our new T-shirt collection.

A “Giri” ist the local (Dhivehi) word for a shallow underwater island, a “Thila” is a deeper island and a “Kandu” is a channel between two islands. The fronts of our new shirts depict ecamples of each of these different sites including an animal you might be lucky enough to find inhabiting it, and on the back is a translation in Dhivehi and a list of our dive sites of that particular type.

We have pink, black and turquoise for the girls and black, denim and charcoal for the boys… all beautifully made exclusively for us by Forth Element!

Silvia and Steve left Komandoo Prodivers for good at the end of July. After working 2 years in Komandoo they decided to move on to a “normal life” in Germany. We never like to say good bye, but soon or later we have to. We wish them all the best on their next adventure.

The Prodivers team organised two introduction dives to help fit around the busy schedules of our personnel from dhoni crew, reservations, guest relations and housekeeping. We all call the resort ‘home’ so this was our way of saying thank you to everyone for making Komandoo such a nice place to live and work.

As you can see, a great time was had by all. Despite being complete newcomers to diving, a few definitely proved themselves as ‘ones to watch’ for the future…
