Markko, Tuuli

Prodivers is pleased to welcome two new team members on Kuredu -  Tuuli and Markko.

Tuuli and Markko are both from Estonia and are bringing a lot of experience to the team, having dived in the cold waters back home, as well as the warm waters of Indonesia, Cambodia, Thailand and Egypt.

We hope that they enjoy their time on Kuredu, and have a lot of enjoyable dives!

silvertip KFFC

Around the same time last year, divers from Kuredu and Komandoo had some great encounters with Silvertip Sharks on KFFC.  The good news is, they are back!

It seems that the year away from the waters of the Lhaviyani Atoll has also allowed them to lose their fear of cameras as we have had them coming very close to pose for photographs.

After an initial sighting at KFFC, one of our instructors, Markus, returned to (more…)

Everybody who has been snorkeling with us on Kuredu will no doubt know Ludwig, our lovable South African Snorkel Guide. Unfortunately though, the time has come where we have to say good bye to him.

Ludwig joined our Snorkel Team at the end of November 2008 and recently left Kuredu and headed back to South Africa where he is going to start studying at university. (more…)

Paul-web

Paul has been a valuable part of the instructor team on Kuredu this past year, and we were all disappointed when the time came that we had to say goodbye for the second time.

Paul returned to the Kuredu team in May 2009 after he first departed in December 2008.

Maldives Komandoo Shark

This picture has been taken recently by Rosa at the Aquarium, the dive site close to Huruvalhi island between Komandoo and Kuredu.

That is a Spotted Shovelnose ray, or shark… There is a Remora (Echeneis Naucrates) waiting meanwhile he (or she) is being cleaned.

There are two main Guitar fishes, the “Bowmouth”(Rhina Ancylostoma) and the “Shovelnose”(Rynchobatus Djiddensis).

The last one is the one on the picture. (more…)

Maldives Shipwreck Diving

It has taken us around 8 weeks to confirm that there is a Frog Fish on The Shipyard, but we are finally able to say we have done it!

Following on from the discovery by Mueen and his dive group in the middle of April, we have been busily trying to find the well hidden critter again, but alas to no avail.

You would expect that something approximately 30cm in size would be quite easy for us to find! (more…)

DUP Blog

Maureen and Richard Lomax arrived on Kuredu last week with their new underwater camera all prepared.

The colorful fish and coral on the reefs were guaranteed – how difficult could it be to capture these incredible scenes to show friends and family?

When Maureen and Richard’s time came to leave Kuredu, they asked if they could share their frustrations and experiences. (more…)

Maldives Diving Sharks

For the past few weeks, the famous Kuredu Express has been pumping out some incredible shark action and fantastic dives.

Regular sightings of Eagle Rays, Stingrays, Turtles, schooling Jack Fish, Barracudas, schooling Snappers, Sweetlips and a resident Leaf Fish have made Kuredu Express a top dive site for the past 20 years.

But the real attraction on Kuredu Express is the extremely curious Grey Reef Shark population. (more…)
